Does any one know if it is possible to send an cheque from an American bank account to a British bank account to place funds in that account. I cannot seen to find any info on this

Yes, but it's hard. Do a search -- we've gone over this a billion times, everything from PayPay set up at both ends to xe.com.

Don't know if thats possible, but you can transfer funds from one account to another, although the banks will charge you for this and it can take upto 10 days to clear. I have sent money quite a few times from my UK bank account (Yorkshire) to the wife's small town bank account.

.... and slow, and expensive. Take Snowbunny's advice, almost any method of transfer is preferable to sending a cheque.

International money transfer from your US bank, it's done electronically, costs me $35 a time though and takes 3-4 days on average.

It'll work but it isn't recommended! Too many far better methods.
