Alternatives For TV
Well, we have just cancelled Comcast TV....hardly watch anything and paying $150 per month!
We would however just like to get the main networks eg ABC, NBC, CBS etc without Comcast or AT&T.
Thanks guys

That Aereo, looks interesting though.
Regularly, Netflix, Hulu, Amazon Instant and all that stuff.
For us, we had cancelled cable, but before sending back the DVR back was told we could keep basic cable and it was the same cost as a triple package than if we just had internet and phone.

Yes, we have Netflix, Hulu, Amazon etc, that's why we don't watch the normal, rubbish TV much, but there's the odd thing like The Oscars that I like to watch live!!
Thanks for the suggestions!

We ditched cable a while back, but unfortunately not the cable company as they are my only option for internet.
I use a little digital antenna for the local channels, Netflix, Amazon Prime for some tv shows. A VPN, bbc iplayer, ipad and apple tv for UK shows and private torrent sites for everything else. Sorted.

I used an inside ariel when I first arrived before I got cable installed and got all my local free to air channels, in HD as well. I don't live in the middle of nowhere, but neither am I a city dweller and the channels were all fine. Can't remember the name if the ariel I used, but it was basically I flat square that pinned to the wall. Pretty good.

How do you get your internet? We have TWC cable for internet but there's also the basic TV channels on there too. We didn't realise for a year as they don't tell you that but one day I decided to plug the cable into the TV and bingo! Of course the TV needs a QAM tuner built in to decode the cable signal.

If you go to this site, you can put your address in (just street will do) and it will show you what you will get with an antenna.

That's typically how it's done anyway.
