Default 2nd NOA! - Question.....

Hi

I have just found out via the online case status page that my fiancee and I's I-129F has been approved as of yesterday!!!
Timeline:
Sept 3rd 2002 - I-129F arrived at Texas service Center
Sept 27th 2002 - 1st NOA.
October 17th Approved!!!

My question is now regarding the next stage......

I remember reading somewhere that from approval date you have 4 months to receive your k-1 visa - is this correct?

If this is the case - what is the procedure for extending this timeframe if necessary?

The reason I ask - I am not travelling to US until next May/June and have a trip planned to visit US from UK for first two weeks in January.

I need to get my interview dateafter the 12th of January but before the 17th February (if 4 month rule applies). This is not a very big time window......

Any suggestions.....???????

THanks for the ongoing help everyone.

Pete

Congrats PeteJ...

You're right on my tail in the process... Check out the thread: http://britishexpats.com/forum/showt...hreadid=103496 for more info about extending... It may be something similar if you are from the UK... I'm from Canada.

The four months is the valid time for the approval....not the visa. If the consulate can't issue the visa within the four months, they routinely authorize an extension. Ask anyone going through GuangZhou China.

The visa itself, when issued, is valid for a single entry within six months of the issue date. Unless you push to get the visa quickly, seems like you'll be fine.

You may have a problem with a January visit, though. With a pending K1, I don't know if you can use the visa waiver program. If VWP isn't an option, you may also have a problem with a tourist visa...again, with a pending K1. Some of the Brits can elaborate on that. Good Luck.
