I was in a similar situation (except from the UK) and my company just applied for a B1 visa. Unfortunately the B1 isn't strictly accurate for what you want to do but there's no absolutely right visa for this type of work

As I could not find a way to create a new thread, I am posting my
question here. I am a Canadian citizen and am in receipt of a job offer
from company in USA. My question is, my computer science degree from UK
is only 3 years. However I have 17 years experience in IT field. As I
understand, to qualify for TN Systems Analyst status, it is required 4
year baccalaureate degree. I have followed many different (short)
computer courses. Will I be eligible for TN status?

Thanks

Not sure about your case, but when I had to apply for a skilled professional visa, I got an equivalency assessment by a US firm, which can look at your experience and education and give the equivalent US level of education. I think generally experience = education at 2yrs exp = 1 yr ed, so you should be okay.

The B-1 shouldcover service engineer type work ...
from the UK consulate site

The B-1 visa or travel under the VWP is also appropriate for engineers traveling to the United States to train U.S. personnel in the installation, service or repair of commercial or industrial equipment or machinery as specified above. The individuals concerned must continue to be paid by the U.K. company and the contract of sale must specifically require the seller to provide such services.

3-year UK degrees are the equivalent of 4-year USA degrees.
