While we wait ???
Hi everyone,
I read your posts everyday which help a lot. I am mailing this week the
I-129f form (K-1) for me and my Fiance who lives in Peru. I know we're in
for a loooong wait (TSC) but I was wondering if he can go ahead and get some
things he will need for his interview while we wait for approval.
1. Can he go ahead and get Police reports now? He has to get one from Peru
and Ecuador and we're not sure how long it will take to get the one from
Ecuador. Is there a time limit that these are valid?
2. Can I go ahead and get info he will need for the Affidavit of Support,
like the employee letter, the bank leter, etc.? Is there are time limit on
these?
Thanks for all your help and advise,
Angela and William

Hi Angela
From what I've seen posted on this NG, it seems that things like police reports, Aff. of Supp., bank letter, and employment letter are all valid for one year. However, it has also been noted that having the MOST current information is best. You might want to get started on the police report since you don't know how long that will take. For the other items, I'd say gather the information or forms necessary, but get them dated as close to his interview date (down the road) as possible.
When I began the K-1 process, I completed and had notarized my Aff. of Supp. at my immigration attorney's office. But now, 6 months later with still no idea when an interview date will occur, my attorney suggested doing a new Aff. of Supp. once my fiance receives Packet 3. At that time, I'll get the bank letter and employment letter too. My fiance didn't end up needing police reports, thank goodness :-)
Best Wishes!
Rene

Re: While we wait ???
Thanks Rene. I will have him go ahead and get the police reports. I
actually have already gotten the letter from work, but I guess I could get
another if I had to. I am visiting him in October and wanted to bring
everything I could with me for the Aff o Sup.
One other question - I have everything ready to mail except I am waiting on
his birth certificate in the mail. I am starting to worry because some of
his mail gets to me, some of it not... I know the I129f form does not
actually ask for his BC, but from everything I read, I had him go ahead and
send it. What do you think? Did you include your Fiance's ? I just want to
go ahead and mail the I129f and everything else to start the process, but I
don't want to leave anything out that might cause a delay!
Thanks,
Angela and William

I did **not** include my fiance's birth certificate in my I-129F petition. I only included mine. We got approved with no RFE's. :-) He will need the birth certificate for his interview.
