Hi, all

I was wondering when is the time to apply for citizenship?
I came here in F1 visa. I got married on Jan 2000. I got my
conditional card on June,2001.I read some article here said only three
years after you got the PR you can apply citizenship but the officer
in INS told me I can only apply for citizenship in 2006, who is right

This seems to be the Question of the Week on the newsgroup. Sammy I believe you are the fourth or fifth person to ask this question in the last four days.

You are eligible to apply for naturalization 3 years from the date you became a [conditional] permanent resident as long as your residency was approved based on marriage to a USC. If your marriage is a full three years in length, you can mail in the N-400 90 days before the 3rd anniversary of your becoming a PR. For you the 3rd anniversary of your residency would be June, 2004. You can actually apply March XX, 2004.
