VSC problems and H1-B

Thought I would share this with the group for anyone waiting for H1-B from Vermont
Service Centre. I spoke to my legal people for my company, and they said that I was
filed with VSC on May 15th and that they are taking between 30 and 120 (YES one
hundred and twenty days) to complete H1-B right now. I am shell shocked! They also
said that there are up to 200,000 pieces of unopened mail right now sitting there, as
they are having problems of one sort or another! Finally, there is nothing to say
that the premium processing for H1-B starting at the end of July will allow already
filed H1-B requests to be transfered to this 15 day alternative! Can anyone shed any
light on if I can be moved to that, presuming the extra fee is agreed to be payed?
Just to close, I have been advised that it could be as late as sometime in September
before I get my H1......

Hi,
My application for a H1-B was received at VSC on May 16th 2001. I phoned up the
automated service on Monday (2nd July) and found out that it had been approved that
same day - quite quick really.
Does anyone know what happens now?
I hope you get lucky with yours.

Hello GetCarter,
Can you find out from your company lawyer wheter your case was under premium
processing (i.e. did they pay $1k extra to speed processing)?
The company must really need/like you (which is good) to speed your processing.

Not that I'm aware of. The attorney warned me in May that it might take ages to come
through and when I spoke to her the other day she didn't mention that premium
processing so I suspect that they didn't. Maybe I just got lucky.
