I tend to stay away from commenting on this forum and leave it to the experts like Ian, but I do read it. In my smallish group of L2 friends (around 20), no one has been called to do biometrics for their EAD. However, everyone I know who came on an immigrant visa was called for biometrics. Anecdotal I know, but I'd be interested to hear if anyone on an L2 was called.

I don't know anyone who came in on an L1 who needed biometrics - but everyone on an L2 who needed an EAD did have to go in.
As a side note - when we went from visas to Green cars we both had to go in for biometrics.

Yes, the few people I've met who have moved from L to EB status all had biometrics, but no one I had come across as an L2 applying for an EAD had been called. Maybe everyone I know was just lucky. Hopefully the OP won't get called if they are waiting it out in the UK.

Problem will be is if OP is waiting it out in the UK they won't know if they have been called or not - they will need to ensure someone is checking their mail!

Thankfully my wife will be out there for the duration, so she can be watching out for letters. And I guess I'll fly back if i need to.

Just to add some more anecdotal evidence I received confirmation today the EAD card had been posted and I was never called for biometrics. So looks like the gamble paid off.
