visa requirements for domestic flights after 9/11
Hi all,
My mom's in law visa will expire in couple weeks. We filed an extension and waiting
for response from INS. We're planning to travel to Hawaii end of May. At this time
visa will be expired and I doubt we will hear anything back from INS (they are pretty
slow gyus). I know this question was posted here million times and got clear answer:
"no visa for domestic flights". However, as far as I know airport security rules
became really strict after 9/11. Does anyone know new security rules?
Thanks everybody!

Right now, there still shouldn't be a problem as long as she has valid
ID. I used my US driver's license on all my recent flights. The ID will be checked
three or four times, at checkin, the security checkpoint, and again at the
boarding gate.
None of the checks are by INS agents. There has been some talk about deputizing local
police as INS agents, and also about replacing the national guard with local police.
Even then, I wouldn't be overly concerned about it, though.
