Can anyone tell me what the process for securing a visitor/employment visa for my
wife's younger cousin will be. We are thinking of the future to try and bring her
over for several months when we have children to help out my wife. She is a single,
young, Ukrainian female so I know that sometime causes grief as far as who will be
issued visas. Will we need to go the employment visa route, with us as employers or
is being first cousins a close enough family connection for a visa to be granted? My
wife already has the "permanent" green card.

Thanks,

Doug

Unfortunately, there is no such visa. She could get a visitor's visa, but would not
be allowed to work (helping your wife with the children does count as working!)

From what I hear, it is nearly impossible to get a visitor's visa for young unmarried
Ukrainian women.

The employment visa route would indeed be an option if you are patient. There is no
suitable non-immigrant visa, so you would have to sponsor her for an immigrant visa
in the EB-3 category as an unskilled worker. You'd have to demonstrate that there are
no US workers able to work as nannies, you will have to pay her the regular salary
that a nanny in the US would receive, you would have to employ her full time.

And, since this would fall under unskilled labor, you would have to wait until her
priority date is current - currently about eight years.

That does not make a difference.
