Unconditional PR

I have the AOS interview today with the INS and was granted IR-6 (unconditional).
Instead of receiving a stamp on my passport, I was issued a temporary Green Card and
was told I will receive the GC in 6 months. In fact, this temporary card also marks
that the expiray date is one year from today. This is a little confusing....
1. Does the Green Card holder need to renew every year?
2. Does this card replace the EAD and the AP ?
3. Can I use this card to travel overseas without passport?
4. When can I apply for citizenship?
Thank you.

What office did you have your AOS interview in? I've never heard of a temporary
green-card. If that's what this really is, then the answers are below:
>
No - by then you should have your 10-year card. If you don't, then yes, you'll need
to either renew the temporary card or get a stamp in your passport.

Yes. It should say something about being a permanent resident and have your picture,
signiture and finger print on it, right?
>
Probably not, no - you'd still need a passport.

In 2 years and 9 months, if this was marriage-based.

No, you will get a 10-year green card in the mail within the next year, most likely.

Yes, it does. It also means you are now an unconditional resident of the US, more
importantly.

Do yourself a really big favor and don't ever, EVER try to go overseas without a
passport. You will need it to check in at the ticket counter when you go to the
airport for an overseas flight. You will need it to enter other countries. They may
not care about your residency, but they will care about your passport, let me assure
you. If you do not have it, you will have problems, because you will not make it onto
your flight.

After you have been a resident for a total of 2 year and 9 months, you are eligible
to file the application N-400.
