I visited frequently from the UK attending trade shows, meetings with my American associates and suppliers. I was "working" in that this was part of my job and I was being paid as usual. I always answered any entry questions honestly and never had any issue.

I got denied entry in 2012 by a very over zealous officer for exactly this reason, I was going to be in our US office for 2 weeks and I mentioned that during that time I'd be providing assistance to our US employees, this was deemed productive work and I was sent back to UK. I was able to get a B1/B2 from the embassy and they were shocked that I was denied entry for this, but it can and does happen! I'm a permanent resident now, but still get pulled into secondary when going through immigration as the system won't let me in automatically, has to be reviewed by an officer, who then always stamps my passport without asking me anything.

Thanks Ian, will give it a go, the last time it happened the officer suggested that once conditions are removed it'll probably stop flagging me up, if not hopefully once I become a citizen it will!
