Hi, we came to Florida 2 years ago on an L1a visa. This type of visa is given on the basis that you have a business in the uk and one in the usa - lots of factors/restrictions apply! As the previous members said, you need to make your plan after speaking to a visa/immigration specialist.
We heavily researched the internet & chose impartial guidance from an english guy who has lived in the US for many years. I saw some online visa articles he had written for some major newspapers in the uk. We met with him & he really helped us with our decision making & the early stages of our plan. This was an essential part of the process and I would recommend this route to anybody.
I feel we were fortunate with our choice of specialists who have helped us with our dream. Our visa attorney has always been there for us, and still is for this ongoing journey. Be careful with your visa/immigration specialist choice, I have seen some horror stories.
Reading other related posts on this forum helped me to find out lots of things I needed to know about moving to the usa & trust me knowledge is key.
