Tricky Q? Change from J1 to F2!
Hello,
My spouse is on J1 visa (with 2 year home country residency requirement) for last 4 months. Her project was for the period of 6 months and so will finish in 2 months. Before she joined the project on J1, she was on F2 visa. Will it be a problem to convert back to F2 once her project ends. Will she be asked to fullfil the 2 year HRR (or get a waiver) before changing to F2, or will she have to leave US and reenter with new F2? (My status as a F1 has been maintained thoroughout and my I-20 is valid for next 3 years). Very confused. Thanks for your opinion.

She can't change status without leaving the USA (and getting a new F-2
visa if her old one expired), but it is not necessary to fulfill the HRR
at this point.
