Now I think about it, (and I do not know if this works UK to US) my ex wife (USC) worked for a training Company in US and regularly came to UK to conduct training courses in UK companies, for a few weeks at a time. - that is how we met!
As far as I know she did that on VWP.

I'd just like to say that I'm appalled that some people have chosen to poke fun at Rippers' chosen profession. Those people should be ashamed of themselves. That said, many thanks to those who have genuinely tried to help.

In academia, this is extremely common. However, the opportunities for money to change hands are very limited. Most payments are restricted to reimbursement for travel expenses only. In 1998, the possibility of an honorarium for "B" visitors was introduced, with an accompanying mountain of red tape. This set-up is unlikely to help the OP, though, since it is restricted to institutions of higher education or non-profit/Government research bodies.

I can offer no insight whatsoever into the way other industries deal with visiting presenters. Here is Duke's FAQ on the academic options in case it comes up in anyone's search.

Regular B-1/VWB visitors can give presentations, but not for weeks at a time and they can only receive subsistence payments. Maximum event time is 9 days.

This website has got a lot of useful info on it: http://www.stanford.edu/group/fms/fi..._foreignV.html

So you can't even get paid as O-1 according to that, I wonder how Tony Blair et al get paid? I was under the impression they did go in as B-1.
