Default Status from NYC office?

Does anybody know if there's a way of finding out the status of my AOS application
from the NYINS office?

File an I-131 application for travel document or I-765 for application for employment
authorization based on the pending I-485. If these benefits are approved, your
adjustment application is still pending. Otherwise, it has been abandoned or denied.

There are several things you can try outside of filing for work authorization and/or A/P if you don't need them. One would be to do there in person and find your way to the third floor information desk. They can access your A# on the computer system. Doesn't always work but worth a shot.

Another way is to write to the Section 245(i) supervisor and inquiry as to the status of your petition. Again, slim chance of working but worth a shot.

Another way is to involve your Congressperson. Forget Hillary. She is worthless in the immigration department. Schumer is trying but don't think he has gotten his immigration liaison department together. We liked the representative for our district whose liaison was helpful, efficient and concerned and with good connections at NYC INS.

Now my question is why do you want to know the status? How long have you been waiting? Do you have an EAD, an A/P? No one will assist you unless you are over the stated timeline for the NYC Office although you can try.

isn't there an easier way to find out????????? I understand that it is tough to get
any answers from NYC INS, however, isn't it slightly excessive to spend over $100 for
AP or an EAD application?

Got a form back 10 days ago, asking for A# (don't have one yet), before they could answer.

Dear INS - can you tell me my A#
Dear Unimportant - please tell us your A# so we can process your request

:-( - I'm going to bend the hear of any politico asking for votes

Why don't you have an A#? If you filed with NYC for AOS you must have received the cash receipt for fees paid and/or if you applied for EAD you might have received the appointment letter for that which will have your A#. Also if you have paid by check the A# might be on the cancelled check.

If, however, you only filed within the last 60 days, you are still in the queue as they say and are no where near to interview date yet.

Yes the A# should be at the top of the register receipt. Also going to yell at you for not keeping the cancelled check. God forbid something happened? How are you to prove your applied and paid and the check was cashed? Never, never, never, throw out anything that has to do with INS. Also guard that receipt with your life.
