Another way is to write to the Section 245(i) supervisor and inquiry as to the status of your petition. Again, slim chance of working but worth a shot. Another way is to involve your Congressperson. Forget Hillary. She is worthless in the immigration department. Schumer is trying but don't think he has gotten his immigration liaison department together. We liked the representative for our district whose liaison was helpful, efficient and concerned and with good connections at NYC INS. Now my question is why do you want to know the status? How long have you been waiting? Do you have an EAD, an A/P? No one will assist you unless you are over the stated timeline for the NYC Office although you can try. Rete |

I understand that it is tough to get any answers from NYC INS, however, isn't it slightly excessive to spend over $100 for AP or an EAD application? |

Re: Status from NYC office?
Why don't you have an A#? If you filed with NYC for AOS you must have received the cash receipt for fees paid and/or if you applied for EAD you might have received the appointment letter for that which will have your A#. Also if you have paid by check the A# might be on the cancelled check.
If, however, you only filed within the last 60 days, you are still in the queue as they say and are no where near to interview date yet. Rete |

Re: Status from NYC office?
Yes the A# should be at the top of the register receipt. Also going to yell at you for not keeping the cancelled check. God forbid something happened? How are you to prove your applied and paid and the check was cashed? Never, never, never, throw out anything that has to do with INS. Also guard that receipt with your life.
