Sponsor Newborn? PLEASE HELP
Please advise what I should do under the following circumstances:
1.I sponsored my wife (i-130) while I was a PR. When she became eligible for the
V-Visa, the consulate called her for an interview.
2. Last month I became a U.S. Citizen. The immigration officials at the oath taking
ceremony advised me that my wife should proceed with the interview and inform the
consular officer that I am now a citizen (sent her a copy of the Naturalization
Certificate). Everything should be OK.
3. Last week when she appeared for the interview, she was kept waiting for 6 long
hours, along with my newborn. Finally, she was handed a letter that basically said
that a V-Visa can not be granted since my status (PR to Citizen) has changed. She
has to apply again for a K-visa.
4. My son was born about 8 months ago. I am also being told that I have to go the
whole nine yards again to bring my son here too. Do I have to file a seperate
I-130 for him AND wait another 6-9 months????? Won't my son be eligible to
immigrate along with my wife?
PLEASE HELP.
Thanks, Johnny
