I'm looking over what we need to bring to our interview in Charlotte.

I posted a while ago and asked about social security cards...the list that they sent
us specifically states "social security cards" so we're off the SS office to see if
we can get copies in the next few weeks.

Anyone else required to bring state tax returns? In North Carolina, they ask for them
specifically.

Also, we're asked to provide the names, addresses and employers of our parents.

I understand the need to bring copies of all originals. They ask for photos. I have a
fairly compact wedding album, and a some other photos but still, far too many
picrtures make copies of everything. I'm scanning in several photos that show us with
our families. Has anyone selected wedding photos and made copies before hand? Did you
only birng the originals that you copied or your entire set?

It's amazing how quickly paranoia sets in as this interview looms....

When we had our pictures developed we had double copies so the INS can have what
they want.

Why in the world would they ask for the names, addresses and employers of your
parents? Did you use them as a co-sponsor for your Affidavit of Support?

Nope. We thought it was pretty funny. They require this of everyone, I guess...it was
on the "form letter." It must be the standard in North Carolina - perhaps most
immigrants here are very young, or it's some weird thing about this state.(In fact,
NC has many weird things) In our case, we're close to 40, and meeting the income
requirements was no problem.

It would make sense that the information requirements are the same across all states
and field offices, but I guess not.

NY didn't require them. Charlotte is different apparently.

Yes NYC asked for all federal, state and local tax returns.

We brought the originals. Scanned in ones that we wanted to give to INS and printed
them out in color. You can photocopy as well.

I'm in NC and I'm weird. So's my husband. I'd have to agree with exyz on this one

Well, Moms are retired and Dads are employed by St. Peter now as harp players? (Oddly
enough, it's what his Dad did for a living when he was alive, too...)

I still think that's strange. We're adults - why should they care what our parents do
for a living?

Ours is reversed...moms are up there somewhere, and our dads are retired... I think
it's very bizarre...but it's probably some paternalistic thing. Who knows. Maybe it's
also something that they use to quiz us on.

Because the person going for the interview might be under adult age and in the care
of their parents. Therefore the question. The forms are not case specific.
