I AM PREPARING TO SEND COPIES OF MY TAX RETURNS TO MY FIANCEE IN HAMBURG. THE
INSTRUCTIONS ON THE FOR I-864 STATE " SEND TAX RETURNS AS FILED WITH THE IRS." THE TAX
RETURNS FILED WITH THE IRS INCLUDE MY SIGNATURE, MY COPIES DON'T. I HAVE COMPLETED YEAR
2000 RETURN WHICH I CAN SIGN A COPY FOR THE CONSULATE BUT THE COPIES FOR 1999 & 1998 WILL
NOT HAVE SIGNATURES. DOES THIS MAKE A DIFFERENCE THAT THE COPIES THE CONSULATE RECEIVE
NOT BE SIGNED?

I have only IRS printouts of my past returns, and mostly W-2's for those years. I don't
think it matters.

Why don't you just sign the copies?

When I send mine I signed the copies and them made another copy.

Why are you sending an 864 or is that required for a fiancee visa in Germany? In Warsaw
they specifically DO NOT want and 864.

You should use 97,98,99 as it takes several months for IRS to process your 2000 return.

You might want to make copies of your return AFTER signing them in the future.

You may decide that Tax Transcripts are a better idea. 1-800-829-1040 Get to a person and
ask for them. Of course you will have to get 97,98,99 because they won't have 2000 until
late in the year after they process it.

We submitted Tax Return "TRANSCRIPTS", that's what the IRS calls them.. and they were
fine. We didn't have to sign anything..

Well, the difference between a "tax return transcript" and the actual tax return with the
W2's stapled on them....is about $23.00 from the IRS.

So you're saying that you've submitted copies of "tax return TRANSCRIPTS" with your INS
application, and the INS has accepted them?

Correct, that's acceptable. As long as they are printouts stamped by the IRS.

Yes in fact NYC INS specifically asks for them for AOS. There is no charge for the tax
transcript. You call their 1-800 number and order the specific years needed through the
automated system.
