Smile Retirement to USA... some help for the parents!

Hi, I recently posted regarding marriage-based visas, however this is totally seperate issue.

I am enquiring on behalf of my parents who are looking into retiring to Florida when they retire. They are probably going to buy a house in Sarasota from their American friends who are moving to a different area.

So my question (on their behalf) is:

1. Assuming they buy now and don't move for 3-4 years, would it be fairly easy to rent out the home for this time? More importantly, are there any tax/legal issues to worry about if renting out from the UK?

2. Are B-2 visas fairly straight-forward in obtaining? Any issues here to speak of?

Generally any information on the matter would be great. Sorry if this has been covered before & thanks in advance.

Cheers

Well it certainly a good time time to buy .. but with the glut
of houses for sale..leading to a glut of rentals ..
They will need to find a good management company
and get a ITIN to pay taxes...be aware that property taxes and
Insurance is not cheap

For retired people pretty easy to get ...

A B-2 visa allows them to become snow birds -- six months in and six months out will probably work. It does not allow them to "retire" to Florida.

Nor does it give them healthcare in the U.S. They'd need private medical insurance.

That said, if they keep their home in the U.K. and only spend 4-5 months a year in the U.S. then they should keep access to the NHS in Britain.

Property taxes in Florida are possibly the worst in the U.S. That will be another huge expense to be aware of
