Re: Received GC - Changing JOB.. Need Advice
I am happy that I have few offers I can consider, But for the time being I will probably halt my job search. I may begin after August.

Thanks
Now I see why most people may not respond. I saw lengthy discussion on this topic on Trackitt. Most people see these kinds of switch as fraud GC cases and people see risk of Citizenship denial. So not a lot of clarity with anybody including some attorneys.
I have been with the employer for 8 years and I am still satisfied ..
But after you being with the employer for 8 years, your financial gains may not be as much, if you switched to a larger role. And thats what I am trying to explore. (complex sentence..with grammatical errors!)

Thanks folks for all the inputs!

Lets consider I am dumb ('not literal' but a brainless individual)..I dont get the inner meaning of your advice or the 'not an advice'..
What you mean to say is .. all the talk about the wait till 6 months is urban legend and myth? And you find it amusing that we have such futile discussion around such topic.
I am very sad that, people who have knowledge ..sometimes do not have responsibility..As one of my college professor said..
"world is full of intelligent people...but they are very rare to find" .. its such a contradicting statement. Full and Rare at the same time...
I think we can conclude this discussion.. As I have decided to do.. What I have decied to do!!!

He said, "No advise given or intended." For once, the validity of that statement is not in doubt.
Perhaps a different civil surgeon would have given a simple, acceptable, reason for not delivering the vaccines. And then she'd have her green card.

1. People who want advice and need some comfort for their anxity
2. People who provide answer and help others
3. Folks who come and show how great their knwoledge is, by saying 'not given..nor intended'
In fact there is another kind...Who find it right to justify 3rd category..

To the OP : you may find this article in another forum more helpful. That forum is also a bit more oriented to employment-based GC issues so you may want to try posting your question there also. That said, for reasons I state below, you will not receive any (correct) definitive answers.
I believe the issue in general is that you are supposed to accept the job that was the basis of your GC application on a "permanent" basis. Leaving "shortly" after the GC is received may cause USCIS to doubt that you ever had an intention to stay in that job. The problem here is that no-one knows for sure what period of time you need to stay in the original job to be safe. The article I referred to uses a 'rule of thumb' of at least one year which is probably reasonable, but again as I said no-one knows for sure. Also, one needs to look at all the facts of the individual case, which is why some have suggested consulting with a lawyer.
It is really up to you whether you feel the risk of leaving before the rule of thumb 12 months period is warranted or not. In practice this would most likely only be an issue if and when you apply for naturalization, since employment history is not reviewed when renewing your GC.
PS. You may also want to check out this (old) thread in the same forum.

Re: Received GC - Changing JOB.. Need Advice
It just amazes me that people keep asking the same question hoping to get an answer they want to hear. In this case the poster wants to hear "yes you can switch job the day you get a green card". There is obviously no definitive answer so why keep asking.
The lawyers who post here are not your lawyers. Pay for an independent lawyer.... take their advice and move on.....
If I was a lawyer I wouldn't be posting any definitive answers as nothing good can come from it.
Meanwhile I am not a lawyer and have no idea what I am talking about except it seems you have had your company apply for the green card for you and now you are going to bail on them - nice.....

There are 3 kinds of people who come to information forums like this
1. People who want advice and need some comfort for their anxity
2. People who provide answer and help others
3. Folks who come and show how great their knwoledge is, by saying 'not given..nor intended'
In fact there is another kind...Who find it right to justify 3rd category..
