Re-applying for work authorization

My work authorization will expire in December. I applied for AOS last year in October
and they said it's gonna take 1 year, so I guess I can expect the AOS interview by
the end of this year or some time in the first quarter of the next year. My question
is: What do I do with work authorization? Can I just go and get a new one in one day,
or I have to apply like couple months before it expires. What overhead I should have
with that??
