Hi everyone! I am still a bit new to all this. My husband is from Canada and has been here
since September when we got married. I just finally got that lovely $455.00 together to
file all his paperwork. Anyways I'm filing all these forms together: I-130 (Relative
petition), I-485 (Adjust Status form), I-765 (EAD form), I-864 (Aff. of Support), plus our
BIO information Forms. I will mailing this out next week to our district office which is
New Orleans because I only live about an hour and half from there. Here are my questions:

1. Has anyone delt with the New Orleans office?

2. Is is better to bring the forms in person or mail them?

3. What exactly is an AOS interview?? Is that Adjustment of Status or Affidavit of
Support?? And is it different from the I-130 interview? So we will have to go to 2
separate interviews???

Thanks!!!

I recently applied for Adjustment of Status (AOS). With the exact same forms you will be
filing. We also paid the beautiful amount of $455

We filed in person at the local INS office though (Honolulu). I received my EAD the same
day, and I think it is better to file in person, that way the officer can tell you if
something is missing.

They also gave me a letter for my AOS appointment, my husband and I will have to attend
together, and will have to bring all the originals of the documents submitted with the
application.

If you have any other questions let me know. Good luck, Nalu

Check out the New Orleans office on the AOS experience page or read the INS website for
information. All URL's are after my signature.

Depends on the office. If you can bring them in, do so.

AOS interview is the adjustment of status interview. AOS can also mean the Affidavit of
Support but there is no interview for that.

And is it different from the I-130 interview?

There is no interview for the I-130.

Has he had his medical? Don't send or give them originals of any documentation. Give only
copies and bring the originals to the interview when it is scheduled.
