A question about entry with Green Card
Hello all.
My wife is going back to her home country for a visit.
She will be coming back through SF. She has her "green card."
What line does she get into in order to re-enter the US.
Does she just need to show her green card, or does she need to show her
foreign passport as well?
Anything else you think she should know?
All help will be appreciated.
TIA

More and more airports are allowing GC holders to go through the US citizen
lines these days. Usually the signs now either say "US Citizens and
Permanent Residents" but she could ask if she doesn't see any like that.

Passport too. They'll put an entry stamp in there.

Quantum mechanics. Nothing to do with immigration but I think she should
know it Seriously, nothing much. They'll probably ask how long she was
away for.

When I arrived with an I-551 in my passport I went through the US line.
If an "illegal immigrant" does leave I think the timeline is one year that they can be out of the country before their residency is considered to be abandoned, although that is probably irrelevant in your case if she's not going for that long

What do you mean by "illegal immigrant"?
If they have an I-551, they would be legal.

I'll make sure to tell her to ask if she can't find the right line. Someone
else told me that SF had a line for both USC and PR together, but I wanted
more clarification.

She should have a new passport as she let her old one expire. She can get
that taken care of while she is in her home country.

I tried explaining quantum mechanics to my dog, but he couldn't tell me if
he understood or not. He did get quite interested when I talked of
Schrodinger's cat.

Thanks Andy, I appreciate your answers.
