Problems with green card
We went through the interview in New York City on 10/19/2004, received
the stamp and was told to expect the actual green card in 6-8 weeks.
However, we still have not received either the card or any welcome
letter and it has been 14 weeks.
We called the 800 number and was told that our files are still in New
York and the NY office need to send them to Vermont to get it
processed.
Then we tried to follow up by setting up an infopass appointment but
the agent did not even look up our files and just told us to wait.
In conjunction with our AOS application, we also filed an employment
authorization application but when we checked with the agent, we were
told that application was denied (even though we already received the
stamp in the passport).
Should we be worried or should we just wait? Please advise.
Thank you so much!

Hi Claire,
If you were approved for your green card and received the stamp in your
passport, then you don't need any other work authorization. That stamp is
your authorization until you receive the actual card in the mail.
I'm sorry I don't know anything about how long it might take to receive it,
but perhaps someone else will.
Best wishes,
Sophie
