Permanent Resident Temporary Evidence
Hi there,
I'll keep this as short and sweet as possible.
I received a letter on Saturday stating that my Lawful Permanent Residency has been approved and I've to wait 30 - 180 days for the card AND that if I need temporary evidence that I'm to make an appointment with infopass.
WELL I plan on going back home for a couple of months to see family now that it's finally here (didn't want to leave without it incase it was approved while i was gone incase issues at the border) and I DO need that temporary evidence (I think?).
I've gone to the infopass website and here are the options given to me:
You have received an approval letter or Form I-797 from the Service Center or local office instructing you to come into the office for alien identification card processing / passport stamp.
You have a question about your case.
You need to file an application for yourself or someone else.
You need an immigration form.
It has been more than 90 days since you filed an I-765 and you did not receive an Employment Authorization Card.
You need to replace your Permanent Resident Card.
You wish to speak to an immigration officer.
After a long and frustrating conversation with a barely-speak-english representative on the USCIS helpline, I'm still no clearer as to which option I should be going for?
Please advise! Do I even require this temporary evidence? And if so which appointment should i be booking with infopass?
I'll keep this as short and sweet as possible.

Re: Permanent Resident Temporary Evidence
I believe the "temporary evidence" they are talking about is the I-551 stamp
for you passport. You definitely DO need it if you are traveling out of the
country and don't have your green card yet.
For the infopass appointment, I'd maybe just use "You wish to speak to an
immigration officer".

Of course you must have an evidence. Do you think they will let you
enter without any official document that proves you are a LPR? What you
need to do is get a IR-1 or CR-1 visa stamp in your passport which is
usually valid for a year.

Re: Permanent Resident Temporary Evidence
Nick, congrats--you are now a Permanent Resident!
There is a page at uscis.gov with that title; I do recommend it for you.
Yes, you must now travel as a PR, and you will need evidence of that status in the form of a Green Card (2-20+ weeks to arrive) or a stamp I-551 in your passport.
To get the stamp, make the infopass and ask really, really nicely. Evidence of your upcoming travel is a good idea.
When my husband needed a stamp, we used the 'speak with an officer' option, and that worked for us.
