Parents applying for Visitor Visa - need help
Hi,
I have an important question regarding my parents applying for their visitors visa in Bombay shortly.
Brief background:
I am their only daughter and am in the US since the past 3 years. Should they apply through the drop box facility? In that case they would have to add on a copy of my passport along with their application and if needed they would be called for an interview.
OR
Should they apply for a visitors visa and not mention anything about me being in the US and go for the interview?
I am worried as I am their only daughter thy may be refused a visa on the basis that they will settle here permanently and not go back. But if they do not apply for the drop box facility and chose to go for the interview the officer may ask them about how many children they have and where they are and once they tell him that I am in the US it may cause suspicions.
I also recently got my passport stamped with my Canadian PR and am planning to move middle of next year. So will seeing that in my passport help them in any way?
Please help.
Thank you.

Yes, they should use the drop-box facililty. They should NOT include a
copy of your passport, but they should answer all questions on the
application form honestly - I believe, there is a question about whether
they have any relatives in the US. They should also mention what status
you are in (H-1B, H-4, F-1, Green Card, you don't mention that).

See above.

Unfortunately, that is a risk they will have to face. If you are in the US
on a non-immigrant visa, that will be less of an issue.

It may. Remember, all this is a discretionary decision, so it may well
depend on the individual officer deciding their case.

Thanks for writing.
I had a few questions after reading ur reply. In order for my parents use the drop box facility at the consulate they have to add a copy of my passport along with thier application. This is the information that was given to my father when he inquired at the consulate.
I am on a non immigrant visa & I also just recd my Canadian PR and am planning to move next year.
Thanks once again & If you do have nay other suggestions please do do write.

Really? Then follow those instructions. Different consulates have
different policies.
