Obtaining a H1B with a F-2 change of status pending
My opt ends in May 31st and my grace period by end of July. Even
though my H1B has been approved and will start in October 1st, I have
to leave USA by the end of July. To overcome this situation and to
stay in USA legally, I am applying to change my status from F-1 to F-2
as a dependent of my wife who is a student. My concern is the long
processing times. If my case for change of status is still pending by
October, would it be a problem when I try to get the H1B visa stamp by
going to Canada? What would happen to my application for change of
status when I try to get a H1B stamp? Does it create any conflict?

Your change of status application will be considered abandoned if you leave
the US when it is still pending. In any case, you should not have a problem
obtaining your H-1B visa stamp.
