And besides in our case, we simply want his passport back so that we can get married...we'we're not even concerned with the visa at this point.

You can use the contact form and request they return your passport without waiting for the visa.

We did. Going on 30 days they've had the passport and 8 days since we emailed them.

I'm approaching my 6 months so stay tuned. I guess you all have your own stuff going on but I'm a man of my word and said I'd be sure to let people know how I was going. I'm actually at the 22 week mark if we want to get specific.

Thank you. It's incredibly frustrating not being able to book a holiday. It's driving me crazy. Hehe. Hopefully I won't be one of those poor people that are still waiting after the 30 week mark.

Oh gosh I hope not! For us too.. I'm ok to start with then as we approach this point, I start thinking about it more & more. I know it's stupid as it's totally out of our control, but still we can't help our thoughts can we!

This will hopefully be his 5th one. The lady did mention recommending him for a 5 year one, but we will see.

Do you think that hold up with the embassy issuing visas had any knock on affect for us waiting? I was hoping not, as theoretically ours should be with the DHS anyway shouldn't they?

No... but you can control how you react to your thoughts! :) People often worry about the unknown... but almost everyone who is recommended for a waiver will get one - and there's no reason to think you won't fall in with the vast majority.

Yes I know you're right. This will hopefully be his 5th one, so as you say there is no reason he shouldn't get it. The only thing different in any of his applications is he now has a new job which is more money!

Just wanted to let people know about my experience last week as I haven't read it on here before. Nothing to scary but unexpected.Went to Philadelphia for a few days last week. Having being pulled for secondary on my past 2 visits I was expecting it again when I arrived in NYC. I was correct. 3 for 3. What I wasn't expecting is getting pulled at the Virgin checkin desk by homeland. Just a few simple questions and wanted to see my current visa. Apparently I was flagged because I have recently applied for a new visa ( in June)

In week 25 now, waiver was submitted on February 2nd, interview was held on Jan 26th. Hope to hear any day now, anyone else had their interview around that time and can share whether you've heard anything back yet? Of course I'm aware timeline varies between applicants but would still be interesting to hear. Anyone know, did this IT issue the US had delay waiver as well, or perhaps it was simply the issuing of approved visas that were held up.

Hi, my waiver was submitted January 14th and I still haven't heard anything yet, I really underestimated the time frames that the waivers took to come through and I missed our family holiday this year but have booked for next may now

I'm sorry to hear you missed your Holiday, let me know when you hear something. Hopefully shouldn't be to much longer now.

... and yet you already have a new holiday booked. Have you learned nothing? You're making two assumptions: 1) that the waiver will be processed in time; and 2) that the visa will be valid through to May. It might be... it might not!

Well Ian, what can I do, I had to use the flights otherwise I would have lost the money and I had to make a decision on when I could use them and unfortunately may was the only time I was able to get off from work at the same time as my partner, so I will have to wait and see what happens, maybe I secretly I enjoy the suspense!!! But the whole carry on is somewhat of a joke to be honest, I'm not sure why it takes 6+ months to sign off a bit of paperwork, no doubt your response will be something along the lines of me being grateful they are letting me in to the country.

It only takes a few minutes to sign off on the paperwork... however, it takes "6+ months" to get through the many thousands of people who are in line ahead of you.

My interview was 12th Feb but I didn't get my last document to them till the 25th so I'm still at least a month off. I'm also in Australia but I'm guessing the world wide queue doesn't discrimate. Lol. Please please share when you hear. I'm always intrigued at people's time lines. :fingerscrossed:

Re: Nonimmigrant Visa Waiver of Ineligibility Application

hi everyone,
just my experience
In Sydney Australia interview Feb 5th 2015 advised 4-5 month wait lol & would recommend me for 5 year visa waiver, 2 previous visas given - first issued Feb 2009 only took 1 week valid for 1 year second visa issued dec2010 also valid for 1 year visa took a little longer being 1 month as I didn't not provide current police cert! OMG cannot believe the waiting times have now extended to well over 6 months not like its a website I took the time to look at everyday, looks like I will miss my friends wedding in USA next month and wont be going for a while as my father has cancer which is progressing faster than this process anyway still keeping my fingers crossed to receive the ""email" just one question my passport is due to expire July 2016 so what happens to the visa as u require at least 6 months validity to travel ?

Nothing happens to the visa... it'll be valid for as long as its valid. If your passport expires, you'll need a new one and you'll then need to carry both passports. The solution is easy - get a new passport.

Well hopefully I get the visa before my passport expires as getting new one is not so simple as I have since Married since applying for my current passport but unfortunately was married in Fiji and they do not recognise my marriage certificate as a valid change of name but I don't not have enough Identification to renew my passport under my maiden name just another hurdle to overcome I guess but just out of interest if I manage to do a complete name Change can I carry my old passport with visa in my maiden name and new passport with my married name?

Hello my boyfriend had his interview 2nd March, it's currently been 4 & half months & heard nothing back but they said it would take approximately 6 month. Does anyone know how long it does take? Then how long it takes to send passport back to London & returned. We go to Vegas in October & starting to get worried about timescale. Thank you .

Welcome to BE.

Members on here always say, 'Do NOT book any trips until you have your visa in hand'. As to the how long, well, how long is a piece of string?. It will take as long as it takes, no-one can give a specific time as all cases are diferent.

We booked it, not knowing we would have this trouble with visas.

Yep, my husband had his interview on 5th Nov. First experience of this process took about 6 months so we were not expecting to be waiting 37 weeks this time around - absolutely everything about his application is the same.

It is showing as 'administrative processing' on CEAC and has done from the start.

We've emailed them a few times now and receive the standard response.

I can only reiterate the advice not to make any travel commitments, we will learn this the hard way as our flights to Florida are in 3 weeks. Given the increased turnaround time for passports to be returned we are now not expecting to travel.

Good luck to those waiting.

No one knows for sure... but 30 weeks seems average - so, closer to 7 months. Some a bit more, some a bit less.

Usually a couple of weeks.

Thanks Ian. We booked it last October online but didn't know anything about not being allowed in if you had been arrested for possession of drugs, wish we did & started process earlier. Interview was 2nd March & we go 14th oct so exactly 7 1/2 months. Fingers crossed he's allowed in & it comes in time . Thank you again for your reply .

Sorry to disappoint, but there really is no response for this! :) People often believe that their past won't come back to haunt them... until they want a holiday in the US.

Looks like many of us are in same situation learning the process the hard way, on the Aust website it states current wait is 27 weeks but some could take longer but by posts on this site seems to be pretty much all are taking more than 27 weeks it feels like the whole system has come to a sudden stop I hope this is not due to the technical issues with printing visas last month just our luck it happens now! Just trying to do the right & honest way.

I am starting to stress now like everyone else, just hope all our information was not lost when the biometric checking system went down last month as there is absolutely no way to even check if we are still in DHS system will never get to the top of the list if it not there:unsure:

Ahh ok. Didn't realize there were other conflicting parts of the site. Thanks for the heads up. I'll just sit tight. I was hoping to travel in October as that's when I have leave booked but I'm flexible thank god. I have applied for Canada but unlike the U.S. they gave you no time frame and just say 'up to a year'.
