Sorry to hear that, specially after such a long wait to get informed to be denied. Many post their response letter here. Personal information blacked out of course. Getting harder and harder to receive a waiver.

This is the letter. Its so confusing. Can anyone confirm if this is a denied response or if we are still waiting an outcome for the waiver ineligibility? We werent sure if it was a denial response to his interview

That’s the end of the line I am afraid. I am sorry you have been denied. If it’s any consolation it’s very difficult to get one now, you’re in the majority. Lots of people now get 214b refusals after visa waiver recommendations in the consulate. Lots of these people have never been asked for any proof of residency ties or any documentation whatsoever. The whole thing is rubbish really. Many people have spent a lot of money and have waited a very long time and gotten their hopes up to receive a perfunctory email like this. I have previously been granted a visa waiver and a few months after the interview they requested additional documents (character statements, job information, rehabilitation work undertaken), this time no such email. It’s been over a year now and I expect soon enough I’ll be getting a similar email. Many other places to visit as disappointing as it is. Chin up.

Thanks. It is disappointing but at least now I can move on from it. It was hopeless trying to get anyone to confirm what the letter was actually telling us and Google kept telling me it wasnt a refusal 🤯

Great to have you hear. As you can see, timescales went through the roof. As long as your email hasn't changed, you'll get the email notifications from the consulate when they finally decide to respond. If your email has changed, you need to get in touch with the consulate - hopefully others here can give you the current contact details.

Thank you for your email.
Embassy records show that your application has been refused under Section 221(g) of the Immigration and Nationality Act and remains subject to additional processing at this time. Such processing is mandatory and cannot be waived or expedited.
Please be aware that there is no mechanism for routine status updates while processing is underway. As soon as the processing of your application is complete and the outcome of your case is known, you will be contacted via the email address provided when your visa interview was scheduled.
As processing varies in each and every case, timescales are given for guidance only and we cannot guarantee an outcome on or before any given date. This is one reason why we advise all applicants against booking tickets or making final travel plans unless they have received their passport containing a valid U.S. visa appropriate for their purpose of travel.

So its been 14 months since my application was sent off for waiver review. 15 months since the Appointment. I emailed the VCU in London today to query if my application was still in process and lo and behold I received a response explaining the usual but essentially confirming the application was still in process. Below was the body of the text received. It may not be an answer one way or the other but it does at least mean that it has not yet been denied.

Hi, I've been watching this thread silently but just wanted to add the update on my application in case it helps anyone else. I'm not on the spread sheet yet. I had my interview for the B1/B2 visa on 23rd December 2024 and I received an email on 12th December asking for my passport

Is this your first waiver request? And I assume London?

I haven't sent my passport off yet, hoping to do this in between xmas and new year when I have a day off work as I have to take it to a courier office a hour away! And they are only open Monday to Friday. I've missed my trip anyway, I was due to go to New York in October.
3rd request. And yes it was London.
12 offences for theft (shoplifting minor items), and 1 for handling stolen goods. I was only 18/19 when I commited these offences, so I think that went in my favour and it was 25 years ago. No prison sentences

I wonder what effect the world cup in 2026 will have on processing times, I imagine a lot of UK football fans will be travelling to the US for the first time. It will be a bit of a shock to those who need waivers that the competition will be well over by the time a waiver is granted. I feel that this increased numbers can only slow the whole process down even more.
