Re: Nonimmigrant Visa Waiver of Ineligibility Application
I've not a clue, hopefully someone else can answer that..
I sent my husbands off via the DX office on Mon. I've just checked online and his visa has been issued. What I've wondered is - will someone notify me when it is back at DX? Anybody experienced this recently? I filled out DX as the delivery point when we started this process at the end of last summer so cant remember what the collection instructions are. |
Re: Nonimmigrant Visa Waiver of Ineligibility Application
Is there any way to contact the US Embassy to confirm if they have received my passport,? I sent my passport via special delivery on Monday 19th and Royal Mail tracking says it hasn’t left the Battersea delivery office. I’ve contacted Royal Mail and waiting for them to call me back.

Re: Nonimmigrant Visa Waiver of Ineligibility Application
Just had my passport returned with 5 year Visa the whole process from interview to passport in hand took 14 weeks and 2 days.
A big thanks to this forum for all the advice without it I never thought it would have been possible. |
Re: Nonimmigrant Visa Waiver of Ineligibility Application
Hi all
Just been to collect my passport from the DX Couriers and have been issued with both the visas I applied for, and both are valid for 5 years. My interview was 26th November, request for sworn statement 1st March and email to send passport in for visa issuance 16th March. Thanks again for all the help in this thread and good luck to those still waiting. |
Re: Nonimmigrant Visa Waiver of Ineligibility Application
It’s gone quiet on this thread. I am coming up to my 3 months since interview and wondered if anyone has heard anything in last few weeks. |

Re: Nonimmigrant Visa Waiver of Ineligibility Application
Just an update from me. We received the email asking us to take our passports to the embassy for visa stamping. We were given the 221g at our interview and it stated that most cases are resolved within 60 days, ours took 64days from the interview. |

Not sure what the 221g is but reason for my refusal was for an abh conviction 12 years ago. |

Re: Nonimmigrant Visa Waiver of Ineligibility Application
Thanks Kt1 So why did you need to apply again if you were issued one 9 months after the initial interview? Regards |

Re: Nonimmigrant Visa Waiver of Ineligibility Application
Email received this morning to send passport off. My appointment was 12th February so under 3 months. Fairly happy with this as can now start rearranging my family trip we had to cancel. |
Re: Nonimmigrant Visa Waiver of Ineligibility Application
I'm still waiting for my passport to be returned. I have travel plans for coming Monday. Hope I will get it before Friday. For anyone looking for timelines, I sent it on Friday 3rd May and the following Monday was a bank holiday. 5 working days and counting...

Thanks. The email requesting the passport has a link with some sort of status. It always said "Send Documents" and it hasn't changed yet. So, slightly worried.
Like I said fingers crossed for you. |

Perfect timing. Just got email that it has been dispatched. Woop woop!
You should be fine for Friday now shouldn’t you? Are you collecting it from a DX place or did you pay to get it sent to house? |

Re: Nonimmigrant Visa Waiver of Ineligibility Application
Great news. Let us know when it’s in your hands. I had to cancel a family trip losing a fair bit of money back in February. Hopefully I will have visa and passport in hand within a week and will be able to rebook 🤞 |

Re: Nonimmigrant Visa Waiver of Ineligibility Application
So I have my 5 year visa in my hand. Had my interview 12th Feb meaning it’s taken 3 months 9 days from beginning to end. Much quicker than the 6-8 months I was told at embassy. One question I now have is the visa is for 5 years but my passport itself expires in just under 3 years? What will I need to do when I renew the passport? |

“No. If your visa is still valid you can travel to the United States with your two passports, as long as the visa is valid, not damaged, and is the appropriate type of visa required for your principal purpose of travel. (Example: tourist visa, when your principal purpose of travel is tourism). Both passports (the valid and the expired one with the visa) should be from the same country and type (Example: both Uruguayan regular passports, both official passports, etc.). When you arrive at the U.S. port-of-entry (POE, generally an airport or land border) the Customs and Border Protection Immigration Officer will check your visa in the old passport and if s/he decides to admit you into the United States they will stamp your new passport with an admission stamp along with the annotation "VIOPP" (visa in other passport). Do not try to remove the visa from your old passport and stick it into the new valid passport. If you do so, your visa will no longer be valid.†https://travel.state.gov/content/tra...ut-basics.html |

many thanks for explanation. I was under the assumption we gave our old passports back when renewing. Obviously this isn’t the case. because a lot of UK / EU travel is visa free or on arrival many people don’t have visas, if you look for citizens of other countries at immigration you will often see them presenting multiple passports so it’s likely similar for others as well. |
Re: Nonimmigrant Visa Waiver of Ineligibility Application
Your old British passport will be returned to you when you renew it. As long as the US visa page hasn't had the corner clipped (this shouldn't happen, but you never know), you can still use it alongside the new passport.
If some careless civil servant has clipped the corner off the US visa when cancelling the old passport, then you're out of luck. It's no longer valid and you'll need to make a fresh application using your new passport. |

Will I have to wait until the 5 years is up hence there being a period of time that I can’t travel to Us. 2. Will I have to go through same process / costs. I.e. visit embassy , be told no and await waiver process? Many thanks again |

thanks for this info all. I will make it clear somehow when I send it there is a visa inserted. Lastly , a few questions on renewing visa in 5 years. 1. Many thanks again Yes, you will have to follow the exact same process all over again - get an up to date ACRO certificate, apply for the visa, get an interview at the embassy, be recommended for a waiver, then wait. |

Re: Nonimmigrant Visa Waiver of Ineligibility Application
I hope somebody can help me.
My husband has a CIMT conviction from over 20 years ago. He had a Visa appointment this morning and even though we obtained information from the courts when the ACRO certificate just came back as no live trace and no further information they have asked him to contact ACRO to clarify the conviction and to give permission for the embassy to speak with ACRO. Does anybody know if once he sends the confirmation they will look at issuing the Visa or will it still go down the waiver of eligibility route? Guess I am looking at timescales really. Thanks in advance. |
