Default N400 timeline for Vermont Service Center

Could anyone with recent experience with the Vermont Service Center offer
guidance on what timeline I might expect with the citizenship process?

I had filed my papers on 1/1/04, had fingerprinting done in late March this
year. I am curious as to what I can expect for remainder of the process.

thanks,
-AM

It depends not on the center but on your local office.

Mine was VA and took 2 years. In VA it takes about 14 months
in general.

I am also in VA, but don't recall filing any paperwork with the local
office. I did, however, have my fingerprinting done in the local office.
How does the local office figure into the picture? Could someone clue me
in?

thanks,
-A

When you N-400 is received at the service center, in your case Vermont, they will send your the receipt/Notice of Action and the letter to go for your appointment for fingerprinting at the local ASC office. At some point after the printing, your N-400 and your USCIS file will be forwarded to the local district office for adjudication of your N-400. The DO will send you the appointment letter regarding your appointment for the interview and test.
