Why the rush to overnight it--the application only needs to be postmarked
before July 30th? http://www.uscis.gov/portal/site/uscis

Another question--should I send one $400 check, or two separate for $330 and
$70?

Thanks,

Jonathan (ex-pat Canadian, living in NJ).

Are you overnighting it?
Yes I'm going out in the morning (Wednesday) to UPS and having it sent overnight.

Whoa I have to learn to really read up on things. I was so worried that my application would not get to Nebraska on time before the rate hike but I now see (thanks to the OP) that as long as the package is postmarked before the 30th I'm ok. In that case I will send as certified instead tomorrow. This is how I've sent all of my other paperwork in the past.

Thanks for pointing that info out.

This is what the website says:

Applications or petitions postmarked or otherwise filed on or after that date must include the new fee.

Hope that helps people.... saved me a massive fedex fee! thanks OP!

Phew! I've printed a priority mail label off the USPS website. It will go out today and only cost $4.90 to mail! yay!

That is great news. I'm off to the post office in about 1/2 hour myself.

So I passed my 751 interview today and the officer kept my expired greencard. Of course, I only have a copy of the front of the card

I am trying to beat the fee increase also by filing the N-400 by Saturday. Given I only have the copy of the front of the greencard, do you think I should not even try to file before the fee increase?

If I do, will the package get rejected outright?

Thank you.

Nothing at my end. I'm sure it will take awhile yet.

I'm just a bit confused. If you sent off *your* application, why are you asking if the fee has come out of someone else's bank account? Shouldn't it come out of *your* account? And if so, isn't that the sort of thing your bank can tell you?

Nowhere does it say you need your own birth certificate; just your spouses to prove they are a US citizen
