Default marriage registration case

Hi all,

I and my wife came on F1 visa, but never mentioned married in DS-160 while entering USA and also until we completed our two years of graduation. After graduation, we got jobs and came on H1B visa. For H1B filing marital status was not required. But since we started our jobs, we started showing married status on official documents. Now my wife needs to come on my H4 visa. For that, we need the marriage certificate. But we never got our marriage registered.

Is there any way to get the backdated marriage certificate in USA since we started our jobs? Or should we get the certificate from our home country(though we mentioned single on DS-160)? Or should we get the marriage registered now?

You can't get a marriage certificate from anywhere other than the place where you were legally married. Are you actually legally married? I'm not sure based on what you have said.

Lying on immigration forms is a very very bad idea.

When and where did you get married?

If you were married when you both got F-1 visas, why didn't you say so on visa applications back then?

Your question invites many more questions as to the underlying facts.
