Hi there

I'm having a bit of trouble trying to decipher all the information about the J1 visa and was wondering whether anyone could shed any light for me!

I am a 2nd year student who is planning to go to work in the US next summer before my 3rd year.

I understand I can get a j-1 visa for this but I'm getting mixed signals about how I should go about this.

Firstly, do I need a sponsor in the US, if so , who can this be. I have also been told that I don't necessarily need to have a job before going to the US - true?

Any info at all about this would really help and I'd really appreciate it
