Default If I give up my green card, will i have trouble getting a visitor visa at a later date?

Hi,

my mom has a green card, and she's been coming to the u.s. every year
for the past few years to maintain her permanent resident status, but
it seems like she might not be able to do that much longer. If she
gives up her green card, or loses her permanent resident status, would
it affect the possibility of her getting a visitor visa at some later
date, just to visit the U.S. to see her kids?

Thanks,
Sonal

Sounds to me like she could have lost her PR status already -- just that nobody's found out yet!

I know at least one person who gave up his green card and has
subsequently visited the US many times on visitor visas. It shouldn't
be a problem. I would think voluntarily giving up permanent residence
would count as evidence that the person is not interested in moving to
the US later when applying for a visitor visa.
