How can a person speed up the SSN card??
Is there anyone that a person can phone to speed up the SSN card
process? Would it make more sense to have SSN check on the computer
more or is calling the INS a better plan?

I had this too. I waited around two weeks after filing my SS-5 before calling SS and bugging them every day with no joy, and two weeks after that, I phoned the BCIS helpline, and I was told that all SS were waiting for was confirmation of my status (K1). She said I could go to Miami BCIS, take all my documents, and ask for them to enter me on their database. I'm not the most patient person in the world, but I camped outside BCIS overnight, told the lady what I was there for, she copied all my documents, and told me to give it a couple of days for the verification to reach the SS office. Voila! I phoned the SS helpline a few days later, and I was given my number over the phone. I really don't know if every BCIS office will do this, but it's worth finding out. I just wish I was told this when I first filed, as it could've saved wasting a month's worth of temp work permit.

I think Kate's idea is a good one. We rushed down immediately after getting the EAD and applied for the SSN, only to be told that Dave wasn't in the system and it could be upwards of 60 days for them to verify his status.
It took us 12 weeks to get his SSN, and only after we got our congressman involved. Waiting a bit to apply - to give BCIS a chance to enter the info - is definitely the way to go, IMHO. A trip to your BCIS office could help as well, I have read of others who had luck going that route.
GOOD LUCK!

Its seems that everyone told me to wait at least 2 weeks before I applied, I
did wait and it still was not in the system. I think when I go to file AOS I
will make sure to mention this to them
