how to call parents for visit
Hi everyone. After finaly getting the GC(yeeeyyyy) and
after finaly getting back from an awsome trip to see my parents in
Romania:), my husband and I were thinking, sometime next year, to call
my mom and dad for a visit to US. Although I am not in a hurry, I am
curious on some input from you guys about this subject. I for one have
no clue on the steps to take to make this thing possibble, but would
realy love to find out more about it before we even start the process.
I have some questions and i would appreciate very much any
responses:
1) Do I have to write a letter of invite? If so, what should
the letter contain and where to be sent?
2) What would be the next steps to follow?
3) What else do i need to do?
thank you:)

As far as I know, there's not much you can do from this side. Your parents need to find out how to apply for a visitor's visa in Romania. Perhaps a letter of invitation is required, perhaps not. The US Embassy in Romania will let them know exactly what they will need to submit with the visa application. If there's a way to contact the embassy in Romania, they can give you more guidance.
Best Wishes, and congrats on the GC!

Here's the link to the US Embassy in Romania, Visitor Visa section: http://www.usembassy.ro/Visas/B-2_Visa.html
That should give you a start.

Are your parents retired and have a pension income?
Do your parents have other family back home?
Do your parents own their own house back home?
Have your parents any other ties back home?
If yes to any of the above, ensure they provide clear documentation at their interview (translation not usually needed).
Print out the B1/2 application form and look through it for any questions that they might have difficulty answering or you think might cause problems. Also, go to the US embassy site for Bucharest and see if there are any special instructions such as submitting the application by the web.
Definitely provide them with a "letter of invitation" from yourselves explaining that they are coming for a visit, that in Rumania people do not have as much money but that you are financially secure and will pay all the expenses for them. Tell mom to keep it in the envelope with the US postage to show the officer. We also provided a copy of the wife's GC in the letter and a recent paycheck to show she was both solvent and here legally.
Using the above method for MIL not so many miles from your original home, we successfully secured a 10-year multiple entry for our own retired pensioner who speaks no English and wanted to spend 30 minutes in a NY deli choosing her breakfast and having the whole menu translated at 7:30 on a weekday morning and couldn't understand why all those around her were getting so impatient!

Re: how to call parents for visit
I am from Romania also, and I was going to invite my parents here for my wedding, but other things got in the way and they didn't come. If any or both of your parents are over 60 (one of mine is) they don't need to attend the interview at the embassy and it will be a very easy process, but if they are not, the letter of invitation would count, but not as much as their proof of ties with Romania. If they both are coming, and they don't own a home and have jobs for a long time, they just might give a visa to just one of them and not the other, so they will be separated and not have the chance to emigrate together to the US.
My sister tried to come to my wedding, she was 26 years old and with a good job, and my parents put the house on her name, but they still didn't give her a viza. My husband, who's in the US Airforce, sent her an invitation, but they didn't even look at it. All they cared about was ties to Romania, which they didn't think that my sister had enough. She wasn't going too stay illegaly anyway because she wanted to come back later on to have her masters degree finished here, but because she was denied for my wedding, the student viza was denied the next year, too. And the people at the embassy were very rude. My sister told me they were Romanian. Big surprise!
So, I hope your parents will be able to come!
Good luck!

Thank you very much for all of your responses. It definetly is a
great help that i got from you guys, right now, as well as in the past.
You guys are great and i am sending you all my hugs and best wishes.
The links that you sent are indeed what we'll need when we'll get
started.
The questions above raise no worries. My parents are still young(mom
is 45y.o. and my dad is 51y.o.). They are both educated hold good and
stable jobs for more than 20years and bring a very good income. They
also have the appartment in their name, located in the city, as well as
a house and land, in their name, just outside of the city. They also
support my sister's expenses at a different appartment in Bucharest &
her university. As family, both of my grandmothers are still alive and
I have my younger sister still in school, that has no intention of
joining them in the trip to US, reason beeing the studies(i'm gonna
call her probably 2 years from now to visit, for we want our time
together(sisiter quality time:)) to be spent without the parents).
We will complete an afidavit of support for them, although i have a
doubt that they'll need one.
My parents have no desire to emigrate to US, mainly because they
have a very decent life back in Romania and the thought of starting
over from scartch in a new country is way far from their minds. Also
they hold a big duty to support financialy and spiritualy, both of my
grandmas. With all this said I hope we won't encounter any
dificulties:).
Well, thank you guys again. You are awsome and i love you all and
send you my good thoughts.

Re: how to call parents for visit
Dear Monica,
Congratulations on your wedding. I wish you all the best and
happiness along with your husband. I am sorry to hear things went so
wrong at the embassy for your family. I too, when waiting for my K1
visa to be granted, have seen lots of people beeing denied the
travel(visit) visas. From what i know and what i've experienced so far
with the immigration, persistence is the way to go. So, don't give up
trying. Eventualy they'll get that immigration officer that will be
fair and not see all of us as people that are just dying to run out of
their own country, lerave everyithing behind, just to live improperly
and in fear, at the mercy of another country's goverment.
keeping my finger's crossed,
(te pup si sa avem noroc),

Not sure there is a definite answer either way, may be Embassy specific.
