Hiring an AuPair when in the US on an E2
Hi there
We are coming to the US on E2 visas - we'll be opening a US branch of our UK tech company and likelihood is that we'll be there for 18 - 24 months.
I spoke briefly with an AuPair agency who informed me that I had to be a US citizen in order to qualify as a host family for an AuPair. Does anyone have any idea if this is accurate, or if there is a way around this?
Thanks
C

Yes. In order for a J-1 visa to be issued to an Au Pair, the host must be a USC or a legal permanent resident - with an E-2, you are neither.

Host family needs to be USC or LPR
