Help!
I am currently working as a community nurse in the uk. I am trying to find an agency that will sponsor me to come and work in America as a community nurse. However, each agency I have tried so far have stated I need to be working as a bedside nurse in a large hospital first! Does anyone know of a way to get sponsorship as a community nurse as I absolutely love my job, just not the uk!

Re: Help!
Your job is not going to provide a viable route to a life in the USA. If you are single, your best option would be to hook up with an American citizen, marry them and move to the USA that way.

Read all of the information in this link and see if you can identify any viable options. A nursing job just isn't going to cut it unfortunately.

Re: Help!
To my knowledge there has only been one forum member in recent times who came here on a work visa as a nurse:

Not sure if she has specialist skills or is more of a matron-type position - it's not something I know anything about, but you might want to read the posts by Sarasota chic.

Sounds like a Nurse Practitioner, are you US qualified?
Never heard of a community nurse.

I think if Peyton O'Grady won't take you on you have no chance moving here exclusively via being a nurse.

Re: Help!
If you find any agency willing to take your money and offer you a route to the US, they're 99.9% hustling you and running off with your hard-earned cash.
The guide above to Pulaski's how to live and work in the US guide will be useful reading and may give you some more ideas/options

Re: Help!
I know somebody who did come across on a H1b through Nursing, pretty rare and not likely to apply here.

Re: Help!
A community nurse is a nurse who goes to housebound people in their homes to treat them. Quite frequently it’s patients who are reaching the end of life so we go out and administer medications to make them more comfortable and support their families. Also for patients who can’t walk. We pretty much cover every single area of nursing but have to do it alone so it’s a pretty intense job!

Re: Help!
An agency is not a job offer, and offering to hire someone is not the same as having to spend $5k to sponsor a visa - if one is even appropriate.

What is it that you are fed up with in the U.K. that you think will be better here?

Re: Help!
So why not go and work in a hospital for a year? How badly do you want this? You need to see this as something that is going to take several years to achieve, not something that will happen next week.

They also hold mini surgeries.
Well in Colorado anyway.

Re: Help!
My wife did "community nursing" termed as "home health" as a CNA when she was on breaks at college training to be an RN.
Being a nurse practitioner requires a master's and much more training.
