H4 on new H1 ?

I had an H1B, was layed off a month back, then applied for an H1B with another
company. That is not yet approved but I got the WAC no yesterday, so I can start
working now, My wife is in India with an H4 issued using my old H1 (which is valid
till next year end, it was not cancelled). She wants to return to US right away. Can
she use the same H4 ?
Any help will be greatly appreciated !!!
