I know this is sort of off topic, but what are your long term goals? Do you have a career in mind? Is this coaching job really furthering your career goals? You said in the first post about being in a rut and taking a break from things. The consular office may be doing you a favor because hanging around in the US coaching may not help your resume in the long term.

In the first post you said "The plan was for it to be a one time thing, get it out my system and then return to the UK to get on with a getting a 'real job'." Did you share that plan with the ConOff? Since that didn't happen, that could hurt have your credibility.

Well I guess what I was saying is that before I found just how much I loved doing that job, realized that that is what I want to do. It was before that I had no direction, and now suddenly, visa permitting... I do. There are people in the company I work for that started off in my position and are now over there full time in positions of responsibility. It's given me something to work towards, and it won't happen overnight, but I want to make a real go of it and see where it takes me. I also have other roles and responsibilities along side the coaching which actually make my resume far better than it was previously.

I didn't share this with the interviewers previously. Obviously with an H2B I always had to say my long term future was at home and I guess to an extent will have to do the same to get this P1. I think I've said previously longer term I plan on go into teacher training here, so the fact it hasnt happened so far may be be viewed unfavourably. Although surely at the same time they can't begrudge people's plans changing and wanting to make the most of an opportunity that comes around. My response to anything they said about that would be that the opportunity to go back came up, and I figured I felt compelled to do it while it was there, and other things would still be an option at a later date, while this wouldnt. Whether that is sufficient, I don't know, but it seems beyond a few bits of paper with my name and address on, all they really have to go on is my say so.
