Default greencard & unemployment benefits

6 months after getting my Greencard from an IT firm having worked there for 3 1/2 yrs, I left the sponsor company on a mutual agreement, I have it written it down that it was a mutual agreement. After 1 mo, I got offer from a contract firm where I worked on 10 months project. Now the project is over, I am looking for a job. In the meantime, I want to apply for unemployment benefit. I am bit concerned if there will be any immigration hassels since I left the sponser co after 6 mo, although it was mutual agreement. If it is right for me to collect the benefit, I would like to for now. Please give me your suggestions. Thanks.

Unemployment benefit is the least of your problems...you are out of status.
What are you doing about that?

You are entitled to the unemployment benefit, and there will almost
certainly be no negative effects on your immigration status if you apply for
it. You have permanent resident status, and you stayed with the employer
for a reasonable amount of time after obtaining PR status, consistent with a
valid intention to stay permanently, at the time of getting PR status.

Huh? The OP has a GC.

There is no problem for a PR to get unemployment benefits.
