Green card Interview, Dallas, TX

It's been 2 years and 2 months since I applied for my green card through marriage. A
friend of mine married to a US citizen and applied for her permanent regidency about
a month before I did. She had her INS interview in July 20001. I still haven't had my
interview yet.
I read somewhere that I could find out how much longer I had to wait to get my visa
by calling INS and punching the number on the receipt from INS. But I don't know what
number to call. I live in Dallas, TX. Does anyone know?

If her date was in 20001 she's got a really long wait! Anyway, the current AILA
estimate is close to three years so you should be a few months off. I'm more
surprised that your friend already had her interview - usually the reason is that the
file gets pulled for training.
You can only check on the status of your application by telephone when the
application is filed at a service center. See the Dallas webpage on the INS website
