Default Getting a green card through a civil partner

Hi

When I entered the green card lottery I was single. I now have a civil partner, and also won the lottery, giving me the opportunity to apply for a green card.

I've been for the immigration interview and it was approved and I now have until March to activate it. So my question is...

If I go over in March to activate the green card (temporary stamp in my passport) and get the green card, is there any way my civil partner can also get a green card through our civil partnership?

Any help would be great!!
Thanks

Someone with better knowledge will come along shortly, but I think your answer is no.

Immegration only recognises marriage between men and women. common-law partnerships are also not recognised.

Sorry. I wish it were different for you

thanks for your quick response. Do you think it's state specific?

Immigration falls under federal and not state law, thus it is not state specific.

No. You must be married (male/female, not same-sex).

And if you marry, once you become a US LPR, it will take about 4 - 5 years for your spouse to immigrate based on that petition.

I you were going the marriage route you would have needed to get married before your interview.

You might want to look at an EB5 investment visa for your partner.
