Default fingerprinted again ??

My wife (K1 fiance) sent in her AOS (Chicago) on DEC 2001.
She was fingerprinted in April 2002.
Now (July 2003) she received another letter to have her fingerprints taken.
I thought you only went in once for fingerprints. Is this normal procedure?

I believe that fingerprints are only "good" for one year. This may be why they are requesting that she be "refingerprinted"?

Hi:

FP clearances are good for only 15 months. Hers just expired. If it makes you feel any better, BCIS's own delay cost THEM 50 bucks paid to the FBI!

Can someone tell me why fingerprints are only good for a certain amount of time? They don't change and are unique to you.

Hi;

Beleive me, the bar has asked that question many times. Please note what I said -- I did NOT say that fingerprints expire -- it is the fingerprint CHECKS and CLEARANCES that expire.

Unfortunately, the procedure in place requires that the FP's be retaken.

The question about fingerprints not expriing was posed back in the days when we put in fingerprint cards. Now they are taken electronically. What I wonder is why they can't simply run the prints that are ALREADY in the computer?

That would make too much sense.

Cheers,
Patty

What, and stolen a new set of fingerprints?

How do you attach them to your fingers?
