Family member had US passport stolen last July. I accompanied in Paris Embassy as family member for emergency passport. All electronics were allowed past initial security but had to be secured in a locker before entry to main building. Family member took my advice and printed passport image saved in her phone.

[BTW, the principle of YMMV may apply. Paris has a walk-in procedure for emergency passports - travel within 7 days, enter between 8-9 a.m. In contrast, I’m informed that LND requires an appointment. Check the embassy website]

Good point. I think the above applied to the old embassy in Grosvenor Square anyway.
