I have a friend who is a DV-2002 "winner". However, she is currently here on a J-1
visa, which would normally require her to leave for 2 years before applying for
immigrant status. Does this mean that her DV- 2002 "win" is useless?
Thanks, Dave

First your friend needs to ... be a DV-2002 "winner" - than thinks about J1, H1B, BS
etc. NO WINNERS YET, STOP BSs!!!!!!

You can not know that! So you should stop BSing.
To answer the original question: she should try to get a waiver of the home residency
requirement. If she can't get a waiver, she in fact would not be able to get the
Greencard.

I'm not BSing. She received a letter yesterday here in the Detroit area (I haven't
seen it personally) which states that she is eligible for a DV-2002 visa.
