DLP (Distance Learning Program) and H1B/L1 visa
Hi,
I have a bachelors degree in computer systems from British Columbia
Open University (BCOU) now Thompson Rivers University (open learning
division )
http://www.openlearning.tru.ca
It is a 4 years program with computer and managements modules, computer
modules conducted and management modules organized by Aptech in India.
I have read at many places about 4 year degree requirement for H1B/L1
visa and 3 years of experience if you have 3 years degree.
What are the extra requirements for a Distance Learning Course.
Will the degree make a good enough case to get a L1 visa.
Your prompt reply will help
Vishal

Re: DLP (Distance Learning Program) and H1B/L1 visa
There is no degree requirement for an L1 visa. Rather, L1A visas are
for managerial employees of overseas companies being transferred to a
US office in a managerial capacity position - L1B visas are for
specialized knowledge workers being transferred to a US office in a
specialized knowledge position. Both visas require 1 year work
experience at the overseas office, not a bachelors degree.
Re: h1b visas, as long as your foreign degree equates to a US bachelors
degree program, which is comprised of approximately 144 credits, you
should be eligible for the visa. You may substitute 3 years of
experience for every year of education not completed (eg. 2 yrs in a
bachelors program plus 6 yrs exp = US bachelors degree equivalent)
I hope this helps.
